Garden Ministry Potluck March 21
Join us Sunday, March 21 at noon for an old-fashioned potluck to celebrate the past seasons and share plans for the future.
If you have heard of the Garden Ministry, eaten anything from the Garden Ministry, or worked in any of the plots, you're invited.
We hope everyone will attend, especially families with children who might be able to help for one hour this spring with getting the plots planted. Please save the date and bring a dish to share. It will be a good day to celebrate and share together the excitement of a new season of working together to feed the hungry in our area.
Garden Ministry's Harvest is Abundant - 2009
The 8th season of our Garden Ministry was one of the most productive in its history. A total of 25,179 lbs. of vegetables were harvested and distributed to 21 local organizations to include food pantries, community kitchens, and home shelters. Even though the weather was cool and wet, not ideal conditions for some of the vegetables grown, this year's harvest exceeded last year's harvest by over 2,000 lbs. God continues to bless our Ministry.
GARDEN MINISTRY - September 2009
GARDEN MINISTRY
The Garden Ministry used to have a trailer. Because of a theft, it does not have one any more but could use one several times a year. It was stolen because there was no place to keep it except in the back of the church. Therefore, I am asking the membership to consider the following options:
1. If someone has a trailer about the size of a pickup bed and would be willing to loan it to the Garden Ministry a dozen or so times during the garden season, that would be ideal.
The Garden Ministry July 26, 2009
My name is Bill Cameron and I am new to Asbury. The Garden Ministry is one of the reasons I agreed to leave my life in Keokuk and move nearer to one of my children. At 81, I need something to do in my new community. I can’t work physically like I used to, so I agreed to help the Garden Ministry by making calls when work needs to be done. I did that Tuesday for the second time. The first time more than a dozen people responded. This time, only six. I want to apologize to the six people who went to the Wisconsin Avenue Garden on Wednesday evening.
SOD-BITS - June 14, 2009
SOD-BITS
The rainy weather that we have been experiencing this spring has made gardening very challenging. However, we are pleased to announce that most of the planting of our Garden Ministry's garden plots is completed. Below is a brief update on our plots.
