Sodbits -March 2011

Last week's warm weather certainly elicited thoughts about gardening. It should be a very exciting gardening season for the Garden Ministry as it enters its 10th year. With cooperative weather, a harvest total of 35,000 lbs. is well within reason. With the new garden area provided by the Crossroads Baptist Church (located right across the highway from our Mt. Joy plot), we will be gardening about 1 1/2 acres this season.

Garden Ministry's service opportunities for non-gardeners

For those members who physically can not garden or have no interest in gardening, our Ministry offers other opportunities to get involved. Throughout the gardening season, such opportunities will be identified in the church bulletin. As most of you know, Ed Ziegler, who passed on a few weeks ago, donated his very nice shed to the Garden Ministry. We are looking for volunteers to paint the shed, to construct a small ramp for the front of it, and to anchor it. Please call (332-8462) if you wish to volunteer. The required paint and other supplies will be funded from the Ministry's funds.
