THANK YOU TO BELL RINGERS!
A special thank you to all of who rang the bells this season at K & K Hardware! We had a number of first time bell ringers in addition to those who have participated for many years. Your help has made a merrier Christmas for those who are less fortunate.

The January TLC offering has been designated by our Global Ministries Committee to support the mission trip to Joplin, MO. Your donations will support the team by helping with expenses and purchasing of items to leave in Joplin. The group from Asbury is scheduled for March 3 - 10, 2012. Thank you for helping this very worthwhile outreach ministry by placing your pocket change in the TLC jars each Sunday morning in January.

Please help us with this very worthwhile project. Your generosity is most appreciated. The Mitten Tree is in the west narthex through January. Thank you for your help.

THANK YOU
We wish to thank our Asbury friends for the prayers, cards & calls following the death of our beloved grandson, Troy Dawson. Your concerns were very comforting and much appreciated. Tom and Gayle Buxton

MISSING UPPER ROOM CAFÉ TABLECLOTH
Many of you are familiar with the Upper Room Café’s flavored coffees, tasty goodies, and black and white checked tablecloths. Unfortunately, we are missing one tablecloth and would like to ask if anyone has seen it? Maybe it’s in a different part of the church, or someone took it home to wash? If anyone knows where it is, please leave it in the kitchen or contact Heather Dennis at 340-1748. Thank you!

BODY AND SOUL
The next session of Body and Soul will begin on Wednesday, January 11th. Our theme will be “Fruit of the Spirit”. This will be a nine week session and at the last meeting we will all bring a different fruit and have a fruit salad! If you have any questions, please contact Linda Rorke at 441-9047.

GARDEN MINISTRY
Bill Cameron is asking for one or two people to volunteer to call and enroll volunteers for next year’s garden season. Please call him at 332-4898 or 319-670-9068. The gift of your time will help feed the less fortunate!

CARD MINISTRY
December’s Card Ministry meeting was attended by a small group but very much was accomplished. After addressing the Christmas cards, “Thinking of You” and “Sympathy” cards were made for future use. The card rack in the church office is being filled with new creations weekly. If you are in need of a card, stop by and check them out. Our next Card Ministry meeting will be January 11th at 7:00 pm in Rooms 302 & 303 and we will be making Valentine’s cards designed by Becky Carlson.

COLLEGE MINISTRY
As we begin to prepare for our annual College Ministry Valentine mailing, we are once again thankful to the Church and Society Commission for remembering our Asbury college students by budgeting money for the postage to send the packages! If you would also like to help with this important ministry by donating money for postage, which is always our biggest expense, you can get a free Papa Murphy’s Peel - a - Deal Card valued at $30.00 (the card NEVER expires and can be used at all the Quad City locations) for every $5.00 donation made. Cards may be purchased in the church office.
If you have a college student and have not been contacted for their address, please call the church office (355-5218) or e-mail Patty at pattys@netexpress.net with your student’s address! Also be sure to drop off a picture of your student for our College Bulletin Board that will be going up in the west narthex in early January!
Donation boxes will also be placed in the east and west narthex in early January where you can place a variety of items for our February mailing. The following donations would be greatly appreciated: microwave popcorn, hot chocolate, ramen noodles, individually wrapped valentine candy and packs of gum, post - it notes, highlighters and pens. You can find lists and tags of needed items on the boxes to with you as a reminder of items to purchase.
If you would be interested in helping to pack the boxes on Wednesday evening, February 8th at the church, please contact Deanne Graber at 563-449-8332 or dgraber29@gmail.com. This is a special ministry that has been going on for 20+ years and it takes the whole congregation to make it happen! Let’s make sure our students know we are thinking about them while they are away at college in 2012!

PURPOSE DRIVEN STEWARDSHIP FOR PURPOSE DRIVEN MINISTRIES
Update on the 2012 Stewardship Drive. As of Dec. 28th we have received 272 commitments totaling $520,186. This year we are looking at the many ministries of Asbury, their purpose and impact, and that with those ministries we are making a difference in God’s plan. Please return your pledge card to the church by mail, bring it to the church office on weekdays, or drop it in the offering basket on Sunday mornings. Pledge cards were mailed out earlier this fall, but if you need a pledge card they are available in the church office or in the sanctuary. You may also try our new email pledge form on the web at www.asbury-bett.org.

Amen.
